NYAS Care Conversation 'Attachment' with writer Julia Cranney

This NYAS Care Conversation took place on the 21st of October 2026 during National Adoption Week. Writer Julia Cranney joined us to discuss the play 'Attachment', her heartfelt Liverpool drama exploring parenthood, hope, adoption and the relationships that grow and change our lives. Developed alongside adoptive families from Merseyside, the play shows the importance of placing lived experience at the heart of storytelling. Hosted by NYAS Director of Policy and Influencing Kathy Evans, and award-winning writer and producer Helen Simmons, the conversation also featured James Evans, a member of NYAS’s Young Person’s Advisory Group and a Cardiff-based screenwriter. As an adopted young person, James is passionate about advocating for others and bringing untold care-experienced stories to the screen. The webinar included a special reading from 'Attachment', followed by a live audience Q&A.
