The Melody itself (if you’re wondering) is an OLD nursery rhyme from the 18th century. It might be a little bit older. It might be of Celtic origin as Lugh who was the primary God representing the red son had the name “Coch Rhi Ben” which might have been anglicized to “Cock Robin.” The importance of it is that it may be an astronomical allegory alluding to the sun “dying” (setting) in the night and returning to life in the morning.
Whatever the case may be, this amazing nursery rhyme found its form into a melody in the 19th century. There are hundreds of different variants, verses and similar songs, but this is the version I decided to use. It has a hauntingly beautiful melody with uneven stanzas, making it both rhythmically interesting and eerie.
