We Cannot Save You - See You Again [Official Lyric Video]

“See You Again” by We Cannot Save You is a heartbreaking song about losing someone and discovering that sleep is the only place where they still exist. The song captures the cruel contrast between dreams, where everything feels normal again, and waking life, where the person you love is still gone. The verses focus on the small ways grief refuses to disappear. Their voice survives in familiar songs, ordinary words and memories that surface without warning. The narrator desperately tries to move forward, but every night their mind rebuilds the relationship and gives them back everything reality has taken away. The chorus carries the emotional heart of the song. In sleep, they can hold that person again. They stay. Nothing has changed. For a few moments the loss never happened. Then morning comes and takes them away all over again. “I’d rather dream than face the truth” captures the painful reality at the centre of the song. Sleep stops being simply an escape and becomes the only remaining connection to someone the narrator cannot let go. By the final chorus, falling asleep has become something to look forward to, not because the narrator wants to disappear from life, but because there is always the possibility that somewhere inside another dream, they might get to see them again.
