In Search of Northwest Trolls Way of The Bird King (A Journey to All Six of the Thomas Dambo Trolls)

In this episode of Searching for History, Erin, Thora and I visit all six of the Thomas Dambo Trolls. Northwest Trolls: Way of the Bird King is an exhibition of 6 giant hand-built troll statues by Danish Artist, Thomas Dambo. Each troll is part of an underlying environmental message that recycling is fun. “In nature, there is no landfill. Nature is circular, everything has a meaning and everything is recycled,” Thomas Dambo. In Nordic myth and folklore, trolls are fierce protectors of nature. The trolls are in six locations in the Pacific Northwest, 5 in the Puget Sound Region (Issaquah, Ballard, West Seattle, Bainbridge Island, Vashon Island [technically Maury Island]) and one just outside of Portland, Oregon. All the trolls are accessible by the public.
