AJS 500 Model 18 from 1952 runs again at Performance Classics.

This nice old AJS was brought in because it would not start. It turned out the pushrods were over adjusted and holding the valves open and setting them correctly restored compression. It was still reluctant to start, however and this was down to a resistor type spark plug making life hard for the magneto. Fitting of an 'ordinary' spark plug sorted the problem and the engine now starts and runs fine.
