Seattle falls behind 14-0 early, fights back to take a 21-17 lead in the third quarter, and then survives a back-and-forth fourth quarter and overtime. The Seahawks erase another deficit with a game-tying drive to force overtime, then finish the season with a touchdown and successful two-point conversion on the final possession to win 39-38. Seattle finishes 7-10 and closes the year by defeating the 14-3 Rams, the best team in the NFL. Sam Darnold saves his best performance for the final game of the season, throwing for 346 yards, four touchdowns, and zero interceptions while completing 25 of 42 passes for a 59% completion rate and a 117.7 passer rating. Seattle also wins the time-of-possession battle, and that ultimately becomes one of the biggest factors in surviving another close game. Darnold finishes the season with 4,391 passing yards, 28 touchdowns, 13 interceptions, 348 completions on 627 attempts, a 55% completion rate, 258.3 passing yards per game, and an 83.7 passer rating. Devon Witherspoon finishes with 93 tackles, 16 tackles for loss, five interceptions, four forced fumbles, and a touchdown, while Jason Myers goes 41-for-43 on field goals and 27-for-27 on extra points. The final numbers expose just how unusual this Seahawks season was. Seattle finished 32nd in offensive yards, but ranked first in total yards because of an extraordinary special teams unit led by Horton’s 1,452 kick-return yards and Shaheed’s 963, with Pritchett recording the NFL’s only kickoff-return touchdown. The Seahawks finished 30th in yards allowed and 32nd in points allowed, while their rushing attack was the only one in the league to finish below 1,000 yards; the passing game finished 12th. With the season now complete, Seattle puts itself in position for a top-ten draft pick.
