Water can keep travelling downhill while its river channel moves across the landscape. Dated Landsat observations of Peru's Ucayali River lead into original cutaways of turning flow, bank erosion, point-bar deposition and a neck cutoff.
Water travel and bank migration run on different clocks. The numerical examples use chosen teaching values, not measurements from the footage. Original models use simplified, exaggerated geometry and prescribed timing; they are explanatory illustrations, not predictive fluid or sediment simulations.

FOOTAGE AND CREDITS
Dated Ucayali observations: NASA's Scientific Visualization Studio; Ross K. Walter (SSAI); Landsat NASA/USGS. All 38 supplied dated images, 1985–2023; 2012 absent. Each source image is held for 0.5 seconds. Native dates and 3-mile scale retained. These observations do not show continuous water motion. NASA credit applies to that source sequence, not to our original models or narration. NASA media-use terms:

Real aerial footage: Tom Fisk / Pexels, video 13663185. Source ranges 00:10–00:23 and 00:39–00:47; original source sound omitted. Camera motion does not measure bank migration.
