I would like to make one thing clear about Dina Averina's reactions : her goal was gold, being upset with results is fine, expressing yourself, having the impression that (some) gymnasts were against her and happy about her not winning, letting emotions out is fine, especially when you know the context, and by “context” I mean obviously her back injury, but, and more than anything else, Viner's views. From Viner point of view, the team only lost in 1996 and that was the beginning of her career. Since then, she has always been talking about how strong the team was, is and will be. She built an empire with power, money, amazing infrastructure, solid coaching pool, enormous talent pool and insanely hard work from her gymnasts. Arina Averina and Dina Averina have been good at following the code's insane updates. Choreographers and coaches knew how to build routines based on judges' weakness (ie: they can't see everything). Kuzmina from Russia was the president of the Technical Commitee since 2013 and was president of the Superior Jury for Tokyo. What could go wrong? So, when Dina Averina is expressing sadness and disagreement over the result, I see Viner talking through her, more than anything. RG needs more transparency.
