What do young people really know about the history on their doorstep? In this episode of our History of Bolton series, Luis from Genuine Futures visits Hall i’ th’ Wood, one of Bolton’s most important historic buildings. Luis takes us through the story of Hall i’ th’ Wood and its connection to Samuel Crompton, the Bolton-born inventor who developed the spinning mule and became an important figure in Britain’s Industrial Revolution. But this series is about more than looking back. At Genuine Futures, we want young people to explore the communities they live in, understand their heritage, build confidence and develop the skills to tell those stories themselves. For our Founder and Co-Director Sam Smith, this visit also has a personal connection. Sam lived for a short time on Pimlott Road in Hall i’ th’ Wood with his stepfather — just a short distance from this historic site. 📍 Hall i’ th’ Wood, Bolton 🎤 Presented by Luis 🎥 Genuine Futures CIC This is Bolton’s history, told through the voices of its next generation. 👇 Where should Luis visit next?
