American jazz singer and bandleader Cab Calloway, with his Cotton Club Orchestra, in the 1937 Vitaphone (Warner Brothers) short "Hi De Ho", not to be confused with Calloway's 1934 short film or 1947 feature, both with the same title. Cab Calloway, nicknamed "The Hi De Ho Man", was the first African American performer to sell a million records ("Minnie the Moocher", 1931, which Cab performed in "The Blues Brothers") I found this short at the end of a VHS tape and though I don't usually upload content already on YouTube, there is only one other copy of this (from YouTuber JazzArchivist) and the sound is poor compared to the audio on my copy. On the other hand, the original video on MY copy was very bad, so I added the audio from mine to the vision on JazzArchivist's and wound up with something that looks AND sounds OK!
