This is what I got up to this week on my property in rural Victoria, Australia. A handful of brushtail possums have taken to visiting us over the winter. They are attracted by the seed we put out for the birds. Will filmed some lovely footage of one trying to eat off of the bird feeder. My work to plant our new bare-rooted roses is completed and I show you where I put them and how I did it. The white-winged choughs are going about collecting nesting material and this week it looks as if they have hit the jackpot with some possum fur. The possums do not like sharing the birdseed and fights often break out amongst them, to the benefit of the choughs. Vita and I enjoy the garden on a sunny afternoon, especially the lovely hellebores. Will arranges for a team of people to come and level the steep section of our drive so I explain what they will be doing and why. I also posted photographs to: https://www.instagram.com/having.a.small.time/ but I currently don't because I found it silly. ————————— The Small Time acknowledges and pays respect to the Gunaikurnai Nation's people on whose Land I live and work. I recognise the significant role the past and future Elders play in the existence of The Small Time and the region. I am mindful that, since sovereignty was never ceded, the Land always was and always will be Aboriginal Land.
