An Afternoon Ride to Pompano Beach: Following the Coast from Lighthouse Point Today I needed a simple excuse to get out of the house, so I grabbed my bike and headed toward neighboring Pompano Beach. What started as an easy ride to my favorite neighborhood cocktail lounge became a relaxed journey through one of South Florida's most recognizable beach communities. From quiet residential streets in Lighthouse Point to the energy of Pompano Beach's oceanfront promenade, we pass the Fisher Family Pier, local restaurants, the marina, longtime neighborhood landmarks, and even a few reminders of how quickly places—and opportunities—can change. (There's one duplex along the way I still wish I'd bought.)
