Wainwright Bagging - Holme Fell 1040' - a pretty boring summit to say the least.

Wainwright describes the summit as follows:- The highest point is a platform of naked rock, set at the top of slabs and curiously weathered into pockets of small pebbles, in the middle of a summit ridge with continuous escarpment on the east side. 200 yards away, across a heathery plateau is the subsidiary summit of Ivy Crag, identified by a big cairn. To be honest it's a boring lifeless place. The best part was the walk around Yew Tree Tarn through the woods and a short reasonably testing scramble just before the summit plateau which warrants care and attention. Good views towards the Langdale fells and Coniston Lake from the summit. We picked the shortest route to the summit via Yew Tree Tarn for logistical reasons. The lower part of the ascent through the woods was nice but once through the woods there was a stiff "up" to contend with.
