Hello Youtubers
I will show you the swap from the original differential cover to an Offroad Gorilla RuffStuff cover.
Starting from How I painted the cover to installation and oil fill.
Start by removing the spare tire, last time I lower my spare was when the truck was new 40K miles ago. With the spare down is a good idea to clean and check tire pressure, mine was at 10 PSI.
Clean your work space.
Remove both differential plugs to drain the oil. My oil was pretty clean and no metal shaving or slush were found inside the differential.
Once oil drain completes, start taking all the cover screws out. Remove the screw from the manual break bracket so the old cover can be remove.
Inside differential. My wonderful gears!!!!!!
Use a razor blade to remove old gasket material and spray with cleaner to clean, Let it dry before beginning installation of new cover.
I am using a LubeLocker Differential Cover Gasket and an Offroad Gorilla cover. I am providing links for both items.
With a LubeLocker gasket there is no need to use sealer, the gasket does a good job sealing the cover without the use of any type of messy sealant.
After tightening all bolts on the new cober, fill with oil. My differential took three quarts to fill.
Install fill plug an tighten, clean and enjoy many miles of service.
