How to teach note values with "Tree Time"

Notes are all relative to each other. It can be misleading to talk about a note being "4 beats" or "1 beat" when what's really important is how they fit together. Rhythm trees are a great way to work on these relationships, and following this up by putting the note values into a piece of music can really help to solidify how they work in the student's mind.
