I Went to Collect Wild Taro for My Pigs… Then I Found a Giant Catfish. What started as a simple trip into the forest to collect wild taro for my pigs turned into a completely unexpected discovery. Deep in a muddy wetland, I noticed fish moving beneath the water. Since I had gone there only to collect food for my pigs, I had brought nothing with me to catch them. So I had to rely entirely on my hands and whatever I could do with the muddy water itself. Lowering the water was not as easy as I expected, and the muddy ground made everything even more challenging. But after working through the water little by little, I began to uncover more fish hiding beneath the mud. And then, I came face to face with something much bigger than I expected. After bringing some of the fish home, I stopped by an old woman’s house along the way and shared part of what I had caught with her. Back at the farm, I continued taking care of the animals, prepared wild taro for the pigs, and finally cooked a simple afternoon meal from what I had gathered.
