Scotland's top 10 best primary schools named in new league table

A primary school in West Lothian has been named the best performing in Scotland thanks to its innovative teaching methods. Our Lady of Lourdes Primary, in Blackburn, sent every child off to high school last year with a good grasp of reading, writing and numbers for the first time. A record 89 schools scored top marks this year, up from 85 last year. Schools with a higher proportion of deprived pupils are weighted to rise up the table to recognise their achievement in delivering education despite the challenges of poverty.
