Hermes Agent finally makes sense once you see where its memory and skills actually live.
Hermes Agent explained in about 6 minutes: the open-source AI agent from Nous Research (MIT license) that keeps two small memory files, writes its own skills after tricky tasks, and gets faster the more you use it. We follow one real job through the whole video, a daily disk check that messages us on Telegram, and open every part: the harness around your model, MEMORY.md and USER.md, SKILL.md files, the learning loop, the gateway to your chat apps, and the scheduler.
By the end, you'll know what Hermes Agent stores, why its memory is tiny on purpose, and the one setting we'd change before running it on a server.
⏱️ Chapters
0:00 Every chat starts from zero
0:37 A temp, or a new hire?
0:59 Hermes is the harness, not the model
1:37 Two small notebooks (MEMORY.md + USER.md)
2:45 Skills it writes itself
3:41 The closed learning loop
4:16 It lives on a server, not a tab
4:53 Sandbox it first (Docker backend)
5:31 Recap
Demo notes: the disk-check job, the server "prod" and the memory lines are illustrative examples. The day 1 vs day 30 step counts are an example, not a benchmark.
