This webinar explores how Areas of Importance for Biodiversity (AIBs) can strengthen the quality, credibility, and scientific foundations of Target 3 implementation under the Kunming–Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework.
Convened by the High Ambition Coalition for Nature and People, the session brings together global and national perspectives on how scientific frameworks and policy tools, including Key Biodiversity Areas (KBAs), support the identification, recognition, and safeguarding of sites critical for biodiversity conservation.
Speakers share global insights, national experiences, and practical tools that countries can use to inform spatial planning, conservation prioritization, and progress toward 30x30.
Speakers include:
Andrew Plumptre, Head, Key Biodiversity Areas Secretariat
Hermenegildo Matimele, Interim Marine Program Director, WCS Mozambique
Tanya Birch, Senior Program Manager, Google Earth Outreach
Ciara Raudsepp-Hearne, Director of Key Biodiversity Areas, WCS Canada
This webinar is part of HAC’s ongoing technical assistance and knowledge exchange activities in support of ambitious and effective biodiversity action.
