Transnational Repression: When Exile Is No Longer an Escape

On 15 September 2026, Ganna Yudkivska, Vice-Chair-Rapporteur of the UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention, addressed the Human Rights Council at its 63rd session in Geneva. The UN Working Group on Arbitrary Detention warned that governments are increasingly using extradition requests, surveillance, digital harassment and family intimidation to pursue critics across borders, making transnational repression a growing human rights concern. #HRC63
