Welcome to Murasaki Sounds.
Murasaki is the colour you get between indigo and vermilion — and the hour you get between day and night. Everything on this channel lives in that in-between.
KAKASHI (案山子) is the scarecrow. The rice is in, the field is cut, and it is still standing there with nothing left to guard.
案山子立つ
守るものなき
田の真中
The scarecrow stands —
nothing left to guard
in the middle of the field
──────────
A cut paddy field at dusk. Low mist over the stubble, long shadows, a crow going round once, village lights coming on in the distance. It is the kind of field you pass in Asuka in Nara after the harvest, when everyone has gone home and one figure is still out there.
Shakuhachi, koto and shamisen. Very few notes, and long silences between them — because in Japanese music the space between two sounds is called MA, and it is not an absence. It is the other half of the music.
Use this sound for: Deep Focus, Studying, Reading, Autumn Evenings, Calming Down, Sleep.
