A short biblical text or phrase, concerning the passion of our Lord, ruminated and repeated over and over again. Motet are the greatest heritage and asset of the Goan Catholicism which is usually sung during lent season during the last few days before Easter. It helps the listeners meditate on words or phrases from the Passion of Christ. Veronica’ song has been a traditional Lenten staple in Goa. This song mainly focuses on this legendary woman Veronica who was moved by the sight of Christ carrying his cross to Golgotha, gave him her kerchief to wipe his brow, after which he handed it back imprinted with the image of his face.
