Discovering the rust behind the outer doorsills of my Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV Episode 16

Episode 16 of the Alfa Romeo GTV restoration is here and things are getting serious… In this episode, I dive into fabricating a repair section for one of the chassis rails, bringing some much needed strength back into the car. What starts as a straightforward job quickly turns into a reality check when I remove the outer sill panels… and uncover some pretty nasty rust hiding underneath. As expected (or feared), the rust doesn’t stop there. I move on to repairing the A-pillar and the inner structure behind it, carefully crafting new metal sections to replace what time has eaten away. Piece by piece, everything gets welded back in and of course, ground down smooth until it looks like the rust was never there in the first place. It’s a messy, timeconsuming process, but incredibly satisfying to see solid metal take the place of corrosion.
