English Love Song - The White Cockade

The White Cockade (Roud Folk Song Index #191) is an English romantic folk song describing the agony of a woman whose true love is enlisted in the British Army and leaves her to campaign for the king. The song dates to the 18th century and was particularly prominent in the north of England, especially Yorkshire. The folk songs of the English have been overlooked compared to those of the other British peoples, something that this channel hopes to fix.
