Life Lessons / Episode #18 / The Legend & the Journeyman

Local TV legend Dave Webber and journeyman J.J. Davis sit down for the kind of conversation only these two can have. The 2026 midterm election season is in full swing, and the political ads are plastered across the television landscape. Dave and J.J. take a look at the ads, the times, and what happened to the idea of sportsmanship in public life. They remember Omaha Mayor John Ewing, Dave’s dad, and stories from World War II. They wonder where empathy went—and whether we’ve simply forgotten how to disagree without becoming disagreeable. Then come the sports stories: Bill Belichick, Bo Pelini, Tom Osborne, Nebraska football in the “ole days,” and the lessons that seemed to matter back then. It’s politics. It’s sports. It’s history. It’s Omaha. It’s Nebraska. Mostly, it’s two old friends wondering aloud about where we’ve been, where we are, and what happened along the way. Dave Webber and J.J. Davis. Nobody does the “ole man conversation” quite like these two.
