Day 20 – The Bayou State Trail | Hiking Out of Ville Platte

Day 20 on the Bayou State Trail started out in comfort — I woke up at a hotel in Ville Platte, grabbed a quick shower, and hit the road feeling refreshed. Not long into the hike, Alayna pulled up with morning trail magic, homemade French toast. It was incredible, and the air conditioning in her SUV was a much-needed break from the heat. Later on in Plaisance, I stumbled on a little gas station gem and grabbed some chocolate milks and a chicken burger — total gold after a long walk. I pushed through the rest of the day and finished strong at the Ponderosa camper campground in Washington, clocking 20 miles for the day. Another great day out here on the Bayou State Trail.
