Three ratchets. Three very different design philosophies. In this video I compare the Wera ratchet, Leatherman Ratchet Driver, and GEDORE SilentGEAR — looking at their size, sound, construction, and most importantly, how suitable they are for custom screwdriver builds. Wera is extremely compact and gives that classic mechanical click. Leatherman is designed around compact EDC carry and quick installation. GEDORE takes a completely different approach with its larger, nearly silent ratchet mechanism and practically zero return angle. I also explain why I eventually chose the GEDORE platform for many of my ZeroRunout custom ratchet drivers — and the engineering challenges that come with fitting such a large ratchet cartridge inside a screwdriver handle.
