In this Sunday Live, I explore the powerful meaning of gentleness in Philippians 4:2–5—a quality I describe as gentle reasonability: a humble, kind and reasonable way of relating to others, especially in conflict that invites others to grow. Looking at Paul’s appeal to Euodia and Syntyche, I reflect on how to address disagreements without shaming people, rushing to judgment, or insisting on being right. I also share a practical approach to studying Scripture: understand the word, notice how it is used, consider its historical setting and pay attention to context. The phrase “the Lord is near” becomes an invitation to extend the gentleness God shows us—not a reason to panic or strive for perfection. We also talk about religious OCD, scrupulosity, anxiety and perfectionism, including how sermons can trigger anxious “trip wires,” how to distinguish obsessive spiraling from thoughtful discernment and why every difficult feeling isn’t just something to chalk up to being "God’s warning." In the Q&A, I discuss decision anxiety, lukewarmness, repentance, the relationship between James and Galatians, personal convictions about Halloween and entertainment, Christ’s return and the fear of getting faith “just right.” If you’re looking for a grace-centered Christian perspective on Bible study, mental and emotional health, and healing from fear-based faith, subscribe and join us for more conversations about growing in freedom and healthier relationships with God and others. 📘Freedom from Just Right But Never Enough Book: https://markdejesus.com/cpbook 📘Get The OCD Healing Journey Book Today: https://markdejesus.com/the-ocd-heali... ➡️Get a FREE eBook on the Father’s Love: https://bit.ly/3fGu6t3 ▶️Mark's resource library: https://markdejesus.com/topics/ 👉Support future videos: https://markdejesus.com/donate/ 🌎Join the Healing and Freedom Community: https://markdejesus.com/community 📚Mark's books: https://markdejesus.com/books-by-mark...
