Shipping Container Home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa by Cargohab

First Shipping Container Home in Cedar Rapids, Iowa by Cargohab. In this video, we bring you the first residence in Cedar Rapids Iowa built with shipping containers. This unique residence is the first home made from shipping containers in Cedar Rapids Iowa, built by Cargohab, building group. This two-story house with a basement is made of four 45 foot shipping containers with a hybrid of timber frame construction. The shipping containers are stacked 2 on 2 in a cantilevered design creating a total of 3000 sq.ft of luxury living. The containers are sheared horizontally, to create a sheltered entrance porch and a big roof deck at the back. On the first floor level, there is a small balcony upstairs called the “café” facing the front of the house and a big roof deck at the rear of the house called the “chill pad”. To avoid too much cutting of the containers, a wood-frame section was built on the side to house a staircase and bathrooms on all three floors as well as the garage. In that regard, the cargo containers were designed to house an open kitchen-dining-living room on the ground floor level, and 2 bedrooms on the second floor. The family room, mechanical room, safe room and 2 more bedrooms are accommodated in the basement level. #ShippingContainerHome #CedarRapids #Cargohab Listing: https://tinyurl.com/y36fz3tv Project Summary Contractor: CargoHub.
