You Can't Bolt AI Onto The Old Way of Doing Business

AI isn’t another piece of software dealerships can simply plug into the way they’ve always operated. In this episode of Qore Conversations, QoreAI Founder and CEO Todd Smith explores why getting real value from AI requires dealers to think beyond adding new technology to old processes. Todd shares what he’s hearing directly from dealers across the country, including the questions surrounding where to start, how to implement AI responsibly, who should be accountable for it, and why expecting immediate or perfect results can prevent organizations from making meaningful progress. The conversation also examines what it means to build around AI rather than bolt AI onto legacy systems. From clean and connected data to AI agents capable of handling increasingly complex work, Todd challenges dealers to consider how their organizations may need to change as the technology becomes more capable. The episode also covers practical ways AI is already saving time, why dealerships should rethink processes before automating them, the danger of waiting for AI to become “settled,” and why leaders at every level of AI experience need to keep learning. AI adoption isn’t simply about choosing the right tool. It’s about understanding what the technology makes possible—and being willing to rethink the way the work gets done.
