As we reached Anakulam, we witnessed a spectacular sight — nine wild elephants gathered together near the water, drinking and spending time in their natural habitat. Watching these majestic animals from a safe distance was an unforgettable experience. The peaceful surroundings, the forest atmosphere, and the sight of so many elephants together made this moment truly special. From Anakulam, our journey continued towards Munnar through the Lachumi Estate route. But as darkness began to fall, the ride slowly turned into a completely different kind of adventure. The roads through the forest became dark, isolated, and unpredictable. Every turn brought a sense of anticipation because we knew we were travelling through elephant territory. The combination of the darkness, thick forest, narrow roads, and the possibility of encountering wildlife made the journey both thrilling and frightening. Then came the moment we will never forget. While passing through Lachumi Estate, we suddenly saw a huge tusker standing right in the middle of the road. The elephant looked enormous when seen from such a close distance. For a moment, the entire journey turned into a real-life wildlife. We had to remain extremely calm and give the elephant plenty of space. There was no rushing or taking unnecessary risks — just waiting, observing, and respecting the animal's presence on its own territory. After this terrifying moment, we continued our journey towards Munnar. From there, we travelled through the Chinnar Wildlife Sanctuary route late at night and eventually reached Udumalpet. What started as a beautiful forest journey through Gavi and Anakulam ended as a thrilling night ride through some of the wildest landscapes of Kerala and Tamil Nadu — with nine elephants by the water, a massive tusker blocking the road, and a long, unforgettable ride through the darkness.
