SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 7, 2026 "MY FAITH LOOKS UP TO THEE," WRITTEN BY REV. RAY PALMER IN 1830 WHILE HE WAS TEACHING AT A GIRLS' SCHOOL IN NEW YORK. An ordained Congregational minister, Palmer had suffered from severe emotional and physical distress for nearly a year. He wrote this hymn while meditating on a German poem about a man finding hope looking at a Crucifix. The great musician Lowell Mason composed the hymn OLIVET for it, saying that this hymn would forever establish Rev. Palmer's brilliance.
