Milwaukee Road 261 & The USA 250 Hiawatha

As part of the America 250 celebration, The Friends of the #261 group announced a series of special excursions with their Milwaukee Road #261. The three-day event would run from Chanhassen to Montevideo, Minnesota one day, a series of smaller trips out of Montevideo the next, and the last would return to Chanhassen. Things did not work out entirely as planned, and problems/complications with the wye in Appleton would hamper 261 from leading a few trips, and thus, this video is only shots 261 leading. We’ll follow the big engine from Chanhassen westbound to just outside of Appleton. Most of the footage was shot during the day one excursion, any shots with a TC&W diesel on the rear were on days two and three. Despite the obstacles we faced, it turned out to be a fun adventure, and we look forward to seeing 261 again in the future!
