Ewo Gbogbo Araye | The Day of Judgment Is Near | Yoruba Hymn | Madel

“Ẹ wo gbogbo aráyé… Ọjọ́ ìdájọ́ súnmọ́lé.” “Look, all you people of the world… the day of judgment is drawing near.” E Wo Gbogbo Araye – CCC Hymn 283 is a solemn Yoruba hymn carrying a powerful message of salvation, repentance, the precious blood of Jesus and the final judgment. The hymn calls the attention of everyone—young and old—to the reality that one day we will all stand before God and give an account of our lives. “Gbogbo ayé ló ṣẹ̀, Wọ́n sì kùnà ògo Rẹ̀…” “The whole world has sinned And has fallen short of His glory…” Yet the message of the hymn is not simply one of judgment. At its heart is the hope of salvation through Jesus Christ: “Jesu yóò gbà wá là, Kò sí ọ̀nà mìíràn tó Tó ń tọ́ka s'ọrun…” “Jesus will save us; There is no other way That leads to heaven…” The hymn therefore gives an urgent invitation: “Ẹ̀yin aráyé, ẹ yára, Wá gba Jesu.” “People of the world, hurry; come and receive Jesus.” Verse 2 points to the precious blood of Jesus and His atoning sacrifice for sin, while the later verses remind us that neither age nor status exempts anyone from standing before the Lord. 📖 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” — Romans 3:23 📖 “For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ.” — 2 Corinthians 5:10 📖 “I am the way and the truth and the life.
