The Quiet World of John Allen
Behind Jalodrome is British songwriter John Allen, a musician whose love of songwriting and recording stretches back to the early 1970s.
Growing up with the sounds of Traffic, Pink Floyd, Tyrannosaurus Rex, King Crimson, The Nice and the Incredible String Band, Allen developed his own approach to music, eventually recording many of his compositions at home.
In the mid-1990s, he began a long and fruitful musical collaboration with guitarist and songwriter Richard Varey. Their creative partnership continued for around twenty-five years.
“Blaming You” was written during the 1990s and recorded in the attic of Allen's home using Cubase and a computer built by his friend Phil Boocock.
A beautiful piece of melodic folk rock, the song combines warm acoustic guitars, delicate electric guitar passages and gentle, understated vocals. Its bright, flowing melody provides a lovely contrast to the melancholy atmosphere of the lyrics.
John Allen has preserved an extensive collection of recordings spanning several decades, making much of his music available through SoundCloud and Audio.com.
For those who appreciate independently recorded music and the quieter corners of British folk rock, Jalodrome is well worth discovering.

Lyrics:
Where did the morning go?
Where was I sleeping?
Holding another lost dream close to my heart.
Where did the river flow?
Where was it leading?
Maybe another moment falling apart.
Blaming you...
Blaming you...
Losing another night,
Left with no feeling.
Borrow another meaning just for the day.
Breathing a whisper now,
For all that is leaving.
Hoping is losing out, so now I must pray.
Blaming you...
Blaming you...
