In this exclusive interview, Simona Cochi speaks with Inga Lāce and Adomas Narkevičius, the co-curators of the Latvian Pavilion at Biennale Arte 2026, about Untamed Assembly: Backstage of Utopia. Presented at the Arsenale, the exhibition brings together the interdisciplinary artist duo MAREUNROL'S and legendary Latvian artist Bruno Birmanis, revisiting the groundbreaking Untamed Fashion Assemblies of the 1990s. Through archives, fashion, performance and contemporary installation, the pavilion explores collective imagination, artistic freedom and new forms of community during moments of political and cultural transformation. During the interview, the curators discuss: • the legacy of the Untamed Fashion Assemblies • the dialogue between history and contemporary art • the symbolism of the backstage as a creative space • the influence of Koyo Kouoh's In Minor Keys • the future of digital storytelling for contemporary art If you are passionate about contemporary art, curatorial practice, fashion, design and the Venice Biennale, this conversation offers valuable insights into one of the most compelling national pavilions of Biennale Arte 2026. Nine years of continuous accredited coverage across Italy's art, fashion and design calendar, built on a single editorial rule: no review is published without a direct, on-camera interview with the person behind the work. Simona Cochi grew up in a household shaped by music and painting — her father an orchestra conductor and composer, her mother a painter — and brings that formation in performance and visual composition to how she frames and paces every story on this channel.
