Cleaning efficiency: Up to ~99.9%+ for dust, soluble gases and aerosols in nominal conditions. Design & operation details: Gas enters tangentially to induce swirling of the gas and entrained liquid, improving contact and settling of dust in the hopper. Multiple spray-nozzle tiers (1–3 stages typical) within the vertical column deliver washing liquid. Droplet eliminator at the top to remove entrained liquid from cleaned gas. Construction & materials: Module built from carbon steel, stainless steel, or plastic (polypropylene, polyethylene, PVDF) depending on chemical and temperature conditions. Modular “bolt-together” frame for easier transport and installation. Temperature / chemical range: For plastic (e.g., polypropylene) version: approx 40–175 °F (5 – 80 °C) For steel version: up to approx 40–570 °F (5 – 300 °C) Typical pressure drop / hydraulic behavior: Pressure drop is comparatively low for spray towers — typical ΔP ~ 25–100 mm H₂O (~250-1000 Pa) depending on configuration. Liquid-to-gas (L/G) ratio for effective mass transfer: approx 0.5–5 L per m³ of gas for spray tower type. 📌 Typical Applications The TORNADO ST is well suited when you have a gas stream that contains: Dust particles (especially medium/coarse size) along with vapors/gases (acidic, basic, odours) Cases where a wet cleaning method is acceptable and the stack-gas contains moisture or needs cooling/conditioning Industries: metal-finishing, chemical plants, plating lines, boiler flue gases, etc. ✅ U.S. Specification/Selection Checklist (OSHA / NFPA / EPA Considerations) When specifying the TORNADO ST for a U.S. facility, include the following data and checks: Volumetric flow: required CFM (cubic feet per minute) of the gas stream and any fluctuations. Contaminant characteristics: dust/gas composition, particle size distribution, concentration (mg/m³ or ppm), moisture/adhesion/chemistry. Gas stream conditions: inlet temperature, pressure (positive/negative), corrosive components, moisture content. Target removal efficiency or emission limit: e.g., mg/m³ of dust or gas to meet EPA permit, or NFPA combustible‐dust risk. Material compatibility: what materials are needed (stainless steel, PP, PVDF) for the chemical environment and temperature. Installation environment: indoor/outdoor, footprint/height constraints, foundation or skid, fan positioning, ductwork. Waste handling: what happens with the liquid effluent/sludge from the scrubber (wet scrubbers generate waste-water/sludge that must be handled). Pressure drop & fan sizing: include the scrubber ΔP in the overall ventilation/ductwork design. Maintenance & access: hatches for nozzle maintenance, demister cleaning, hopper sludge discharge, control system. Compliance: check EPA emission rules, OSHA HAZWOPER (if wet clean involves hazardous liquids), NFPA combustible dust if dust is explosive. Expansion/Scalability: modular design allows adding extra modules if flow increases.
