Need to lock in? This is 10 hours of pure, seamless white noise for studying, deep work, reading and focus. No music, no sudden changes, no distractions. Just a steady wall of sound that helps mask the little interruptions that break your concentration.
🎧 Tip: listen at a low-to-moderate volume (around conversation level or lower). Louder is not better.
WHY CAN WHITE NOISE HELP YOU FOCUS?
Most of us don't lose focus because of silence, but because of sudden sounds: a door, a voice, a notification. A constant background sound can reduce how much those sounds stand out. Here is what some research suggests:
Söderlund, Sikström & Smart (2007), Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry: white noise improved cognitive performance in children with attention difficulties, while slightly worsening it in typically attentive children. The authors explain this with the "moderate brain arousal" model.
Rausch, Bauch & Bunzeck (2014), Journal of Cognitive Neuroscience: white noise was linked to better learning performance, with changes in activity in dopamine-related brain regions.
Mehta, Zhu & Cheema (2012), Journal of Consumer Research: a moderate level of ambient noise (around 70 dB) boosted creative thinking compared with a very quiet room, while very loud noise hurt it.
The results are not the same for everyone, and more research is needed. If it helps you, great. If it doesn't, no problem. Everyone's brain is different.
WHAT ABOUT BROWN NOISE?
Brown noise has a deeper, softer rumble than white noise, and many people say they prefer it for studying. Formal research on brown noise specifically is still limited, so we see it as a matter of personal preference. It's coming to this channel soon.
