People told us not to visit Amritsar... but we went anyway. After a taxi no-show, getting dumped in the middle of the city, and walking through unfamiliar streets with our backpacks, we weren't expecting much. What we found instead was one of the most unforgettable experiences of our six months travelling across India. From the incredible Golden Temple and the world's largest free community kitchen, to wearing a traditional Punjabi turban, eating legendary Amritsari Kulcha, tasting famous Punjabi lassi, exploring bustling bazaars and witnessing the unforgettable India-Pakistan border ceremony, Amritsar delivered surprise after surprise.
