I literally just had them in my hand. Literally. [Verse 1] It’s 2:00 PM and I’m frozen on the sofa in my coat, Can’t start a single task because my schedule is a moat. I’ve got a dentist appointment at a quarter to four, So naturally I’m paralyzed, staring at the floor. My brain is a browser with seventy tabs open, Three of them are frozen and there’s techno music floating. I went into the kitchen to grab a glass of water, Ended up reorganizing my bookshelf by author. Still thirsty. [Verse 2] Paid the ADHD tax again, it’s getting quite expensive, My relationship with expiry dates is apprehensive. Bought a bag of spinach with the highest of intentions, Now it’s a liquid swamp monster in a drawer of dark dimensions. Last week I was convinced that my calling was the cello, Spent three hundred quid to be a classical fellow. It’s sitting in the corner next to the unicycle gear, And sourdough starter that I haven’t looked at in a year. [Chorus] Oh, I’m chasing the dopamine, running down the street, Losing my sunglasses while they're laying at my feet. Out of sight, out of mind, everything is gone, Just a brilliant idea that I won't finish a song... Yeah, my head is in the clouds but my feet are on the floor, Can someone please remind me what I came in here for? [Verse 3] Met a friend in Soho, she was telling me a story, About her cousin's wedding which was tragic, long, and gory. I was looking at her mouth, trying hard to look engaged, But my brain was researching how the pyramids were staged. Then I locked onto a rogue piece of lint upon her sleeve, By the time I snapped back out of it, it was time for us to leave. I said "Wow, that’s crazy," hoping that it fit the vibe, She looked at me in horror, I think someone had died. [Bridge] Walked into Tesco for a single pint of milk. Came out with a pineapple, some heavily discounted silk, A pack of AA batteries, a magazine on trains, And a deep, profound sense of forgetting my own name. Did I lock the front door? Did I turn off the iron? Did I reply to that email from my absolute most important client? (Beat drops back in hard) Nah, probably fine. [Outro] Wait... the iron is definitely still on. Oh, bloody hell.
