Mr. Baleshwar Sahni was diagnosed with a heart valve problem that required treatment. However, his angiography showed extensive calcification in the arteries, making bypass surgery difficult and unsuitable in his case. TAVI, or Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation, is a minimally invasive procedure used to replace a diseased aortic valve. The new valve is delivered through a blood vessel, usually through the artery in the leg, and positioned inside the existing valve. Unlike traditional open-heart surgery, TAVI does not require the chest to be opened. It may be considered for patients with severe aortic valve disease, particularly when open-heart surgery carries higher risks or may not be suitable.
