Six months ago, we bought a badly damaged VW Crafter with one ridiculous plan: completely rebuild it and create our dream luxury campervan from scratch. What followed was months of DIY campervan conversion, learning as we went, repairing the crash damage, building the interior and tackling almost every part of the van ourselves. We started with a wreck. We finished with a fully custom campervan. But before we could finally call the build finished, there was one major problem left to fix. After everything we’d already done to this van, this final problem could still stop us from getting the finished campervan we’d spent months building on the road. So we get back to work, find out what’s wrong, fix the final issue and finally get to see the Volkswagen Crafter as the campervan we always wanted it to be. We had to learn as we went, make mistakes, solve problems and figure out how to turn a crash-damaged commercial van into a fully functioning luxury campervan. There were jobs we thought would take an hour that took days. Things that went completely wrong. Parts we had to replace. And plenty of moments where we wondered if we’d ever actually finish the thing. But after months of work, thousands of jobs and one final problem standing in our way, the VW Crafter campervan is finally finished.
