【Ado】Haru Ni Mau (Piano Cover)

Original Song: 【Ado】Haru Ni Mau Theme song for the new season of ABEMA’s “Today, I Fell in Love”    • 【Ado】春に舞う   Piano Arrangement by Justin Wai -------------- "The songs you said you loved Trying to copy you, and listening to it" Ado's range has always been impressive, and while she rose to fame for her 'emo' songs, I'm so happy that every once in a while she gets to bring out her 'girly' side and give us a treat like Haru ni mau. It has that warm, giggly "I'm in love feeling" to it, which I guess was just the right feeling for the Reality TV show it was commissioned for. Arrangement wise, it's mostly straight forward again, just warm chords and singing melodies as originally orchestrated. The song goes through some pretty interesting modulations, starting in the 'golden' key of A Major, then modulating up to B major for the prechorus, then down to Ab major for the first chorus. I can't say I exactly understand the musical theory behind this decision but it makes for a very dynamic progression of the song - each new section feels fresh and expansive with the key change. I particularly like the use of the minor 4 chord throughout, it helps emphasise that yearning feeling of someone in love, so I made sure to always bring that out when it appears. I also tried to vary some of the embellishments to the accompaniment, such as in the verses, where there are more high end sparkles, by sharing the melody in the middle voice. Finally, I added quite a few arpeggios and runs that help build the tension at the cadences, most notably the sus4 chords at the end of the choruses or into a key change. Thank you for listening to this week's cover and see you in the next one!
