Matheran in monsoon is a completely different experience. From misty trails and waterfalls to beautiful viewpoints, slippery trekking paths and unexpected adventures, this trip had a little bit of everything! In this full Matheran travel vlog, we take you along on our monsoon trip to Matheran, Maharashtra, one of the most popular monsoon destinations near Mumbai. This trip was organized by Moon Trails, run by our friend, and it was their very first Matheran trip. What started with travelling alongside a group of strangers slowly turned into one of those trips where strangers became friends. ❤️ Our journey from Kochi to Matheran We travelled from Kochi to Panvel by train, then continued our journey by local trains: 📍 Kochi → Panvel — Train 📍 Panvel → Thane — Local Train 📍 Thane → Neral — Local Train 📍 Neral → Aman Lodge — Shared Taxi Aman Lodge was our starting point, from where we began exploring Matheran and its beautiful monsoon trails. Places & trails we explored in Matheran: •⁠ ⁠⁠Beatrice cliff point •⁠ ⁠Echo Point •⁠ ⁠Myra Point •⁠ ⁠Louisa Point •⁠ ⁠Matheran Market & Town •⁠ ⁠Pisarnath Waterfall trail •⁠ ⁠Aman Lodge •⁠ ⁠Peb Fort Trek We also attempted the Pisarnath Waterfall trek. We later learned that this trail was restricted, something we were not aware of when we went there. We do not recommend attempting a restricted trail. Please always check the current local rules and restrictions before taking any trail or trek. 🥾 Peb Fort Trek On the second day, we took on the Peb Fort trek, covering around 6 km from Aman Lodge towards Peb Fort. The monsoon made this trek especially adventurous. The trail was narrow and extremely slippery in places, with steep sections and difficult terrain. The combination of rain, mud and the terrain made it a challenging experience, so if you’re planning this trek during monsoon, please be extremely careful and go prepared. ⚠️ Always check the latest trail conditions, local restrictions and weather before trekking. Wear proper trekking shoes, carry enough water and follow local safety instructions. The best part of this trip? It wasn’t just the places we visited. It was the people. This was our first time travelling with many of the people in the group. We started the trip as strangers, but somewhere along the trails, conversations, laughter and shared adventures turned strangers into friends. There is something special about travelling with people who have the same energy, curiosity and excitement to explore. And this Matheran trip gave us exactly that.
