SEE THE SACRED IN THE ORDINARY Wherever I am, am I looking for opportunities to serve Kṛṣṇa? 2. DEVOTION IS NOT ALWAYS COMPLICATED Simply hearing about Kṛṣṇa and glorifying Kṛṣṇa with our ears and tongue is devotional service—easily and happily performed: susukhaṁ kartum avyayam. 3. USE WHATEVER TALENT WE HAVE IN KṚṢṆA’S SERVICE Just as the trees offer their fruits and the bees sing, we too can use our abilities and intelligence in Kṛṣṇa’s service—singing bhajans, performing Harināma-saṅkīrtana, cooking, studying Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, Bhagavad-gītā, Caitanya-caritāmṛta, and so on. 4. SERVICE BEGINS WITH AFFECTION Where there is love and affection, service becomes natural—for the pleasure of our beloved. 5. GREATNESS DOESN’T ELIMINATE HUMILITY As I grow in devotional service, am I developing greater humility and gratitude for every opportunity to serve? Am I expecting to be served, or cultivating the desire to serve others? 6. TRUE GREATNESS CAN CO-EXIST WITH SIMPLICITY As we advance in devotional service, are we becoming simpler and more obedient to the instructions of our Gurus? Are we making life less complicated—simple living and high thinking—or accumulating things and making life more complex? 7. FAITH GIVES COURAGE Complete faith and surrender give us the courage to face any adversity in life: “Avaśya rakṣibe Kṛṣṇa.” 8. DO NOT HOARD RESOURCES — THE DHENUKĀSURA MENTALITY Dhenukāsura not only did not perform service himself, but also prevented others from serving. We too need to give up this mentality—*neither serving ourselves nor allowing others to serve*—if we want to progress in devotional service.
