Every knight seeks glory.
Very few are asked to leave it behind.
“Come to the Water” is a Warhammer Fantasy fan song about a Bretonnian Questing Knight who reaches the end of his journey and discovers that the final test is not strength, courage, or victory.
It is truth.
Before the Lady of the Lake, titles mean nothing.
Banners mean nothing.
Scars, victories, bloodlines, and stories all fall away.
The question is simple:
Who are you when the knight is gone?
The road tests his pride.
His mercy.
His fear.
His desire for the life he could have had.
And at the water’s edge, he must surrender everything he believed made him worthy.
Only then does the Lady answer.
“COME TO THE WATER.
Come as you are.
Leave me your banner,
Your title, your scar.”
This song is built around one idea:
The Grail does not make a knight worthy.
It reveals whether he already is.
When the knight finally steps into the lake, he does not emerge because he has become someone new.
He emerges because, for the first time, there is nothing left to hide behind.
No title.
No legend.
No lie.
Only the man.
And the Lady sees enough.
“RISE FROM THE WATER.”
This is an unofficial Warhammer Fantasy fan work inspired by Bretonnia, the Lady of the Lake, Questing Knights, and the Grail.
The world may have ended.
The songs haven’t.
