Coastal Timber Frame Pavilion | Douglas Fir + Stone

Set along the coast of Aquidneck Island in Rhode Island, this 32 by 24-foot timber frame pavilion was designed as a place to gather, spend more time outdoors, and enjoy the surrounding water and landscape. Bensonwood fabricated the frame from solid sawn Douglas fir, with white oak splines and pegs adding contrast at the joinery. Douglas fir was also used for the interior wood cladding, while the stone fireplace, walls, and floor bring another natural material into the structure and help anchor the pavilion within its setting.
