My Match Analysis: The Footsie Knife vs. The Psycho Wall – Infiltration vs. PR Balrog
Infiltration’s Chun-Li makes this matchup feel like a constant test of spacing. Against PR Balrog’s M. Bison, she wants to control the floor with far-standing fierce, crouching medium kick, back fierce, Kikoken, and clean whiff punishes. Chun-Li does not need to rush wildly here. She wants to stand at that annoying range where Bison’s movement gets checked before his pressure can fully start.
PR Balrog’s Bison brings a very different kind of threat. He wants to walk forward, absorb space with strong buttons, threaten Scissor Kick pressure, and force Chun-Li to defend longer than she wants to. Bison’s standing medium kick, crouching medium kick, Psycho Crusher threat, Devil Reverse movement, and safe-looking Scissor Kick spacing can make the match feel heavy once he gets close.
Infiltration’s Chun-Li Control
What I like about Infiltration here is how measured his Chun-Li feels. He is not just throwing Kikoken for the sake of it. He uses fireballs to interrupt Bison’s walking rhythm, then backs them up with long normals and positioning. Chun-Li’s far-standing fierce is especially important because it makes Bison think twice before casually moving into mid-range.
Her anti-air choices also matter a lot. Against Bison, jump-ins, Devil Reverse movement, and odd air timing can be annoying to deal with. Infiltration has to be ready with back fierce, crouching heavy kick-style spacing checks, air-to-air reactions, or simply walking out and resetting the position. If he lets Bison jump or float around too freely, the match can quickly become uncomfortable.
PR Balrog’s Bison Pressure
PR Balrog’s best moments come when he turns small movement wins into pressure. Bison does not always need a huge opening. Sometimes he just needs Chun-Li to block one Scissor Kick at the right range, hesitate after a poke, or give up a little too much ground. From there, he can keep walking forward and make Infiltration defend against buttons, throws, frame traps, and repeated spacing traps.
The scary part is that Bison’s pressure can feel safe even when it is slowly draining your options. Chun-Li may block correctly, but if she keeps getting pushed toward the corner, Bison is still winning the bigger battle. PR Balrog’s patience matters here. He does not need to force everything immediately; he can let the screen position do the work.
The Spacing Battle
This set is exciting because both characters are fighting over a very specific slice of the screen. Chun-Li wants the range where her pokes and Kikoken can stop Bison before he starts. Bison wants the range where Scissor Kick and strong grounded buttons make Chun-Li block. Whoever owns that middle space gets to define the pace.
For me, the best part is how tense the “small” moments feel. A blocked Kikoken is not just a blocked projectile — it affects whether Bison can walk forward. A whiffed Chun-Li normal can give Bison the range he wants. A poorly spaced Scissor Kick can finally let Chun-Li punish or reset the momentum. Neither player can autopilot, because the matchup is built around tiny spacing errors becoming big momentum shifts.
Infiltration has to stay sharp and avoid getting trapped in long defensive sequences. PR Balrog has to keep pushing without running into Chun-Li’s long buttons. That balance makes the set feel like a slow squeeze rather than a wild brawl, and I really enjoy that kind of pressure. It is not always flashy, but every step forward feels earned.
