However, there are different options depending on where you are travelling, how long you are staying and which entry route you use. UK travellers can generally apply for an Egypt eVisa before travelling or obtain a Visa on Arrival at approved airports. The standard Visa on Arrival costs US$30 and allows a stay of up to 30 days for eligible travellers. There is also a special arrangement for travellers arriving by air into Sharm El-Sheikh. If you are staying for less than 15 days in Sharm El-Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba or Taba, you may be able to receive a free entry permission stamp instead of purchasing a standard tourist visa. If you plan to travel outside these areas or stay longer, different visa requirements apply. EGYPT E-VISA: Egypt’s official eVisa system allows eligible travellers to apply for a tourist visa online before travelling. Current tourist eVisa fees are: Single entry: US$30 Multiple entry: US$65 The eVisa application should be submitted at least 7 days before departure. When travelling with an eVisa, make sure you have the required documents with you. These can include your passport, a printed copy of the eVisa, travel itinerary, hotel booking or accommodation details and other supporting documents where applicable. PASSPORT REQUIREMENTS: Your passport should be valid for at least 6 months from the date you arrive in Egypt. VISA ON ARRIVAL: For eligible nationalities, a Visa on Arrival can be obtained at approved Egyptian airports rather than applying for an eVisa before travelling. For UK travellers, the standard physical Visa on Arrival costs US$30 and allows a stay of up to 30 days. The new Digital Visa on Arrival at Cairo International Airport costs US$36, including the digital service fee. Always check the latest requirements before travelling because visa eligibility, fees, entry points and procedures can change. SHARM EL-SHEIKH SPECIAL ENTRY RULE: If you are travelling to Sharm El-Sheikh, check the special entry rules before automatically buying a tourist visa. Eligible travellers arriving by air and staying for less than 15 days in Sharm El-Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba or Taba may be able to receive a free entry permission stamp on arrival. This can be useful for travellers planning a short Red Sea holiday who do not intend to travel beyond the permitted resort areas. If you plan to visit Cairo, the Pyramids of Giza, Luxor, Aswan or other parts of Egypt, or stay for more than 15 days, you may need a standard tourist visa.
