Prong Couldn't Just Make Another Beg to Differ

What happened to Prong after Beg to Differ? In this third episode of my Prong history series, we look at 1991's Prove You Wrong, the album that found the band changing direction and laying the groundwork for what would eventually become Cleansing. After bassist Mike Kirkland left the band, Tommy Victor and Ted Parsons brought in Troy Gregory, formerly of Flotsam and Jetsam. Together, the new lineup began writing and recording an album that sounded noticeably different from Beg to Differ. We'll look at the making of Prove You Wrong, the album's heavier emphasis on groove and industrial textures, its MTV exposure and music videos, and the reaction from critics and longtime Prong fans. We'll also cover the album's commercial performance, the 1992 Whose Fist Is This Anyway? EP, Troy Gregory's departure, and the lineup changes that would set the stage for one of the most important albums in Prong's career.
